According to University rankings of Science & Technology contribution, HUST is ranked fifth in Science & Technology contribution among Chinese universities.

According to Best Chinese Universities ranking of SHANGHAI RANKING 2021, HUST ranks #8 in its overall ranking of Chinese universities.

HUST ranks ninth among universities in mainland China by Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2021.

The 4th round of China University Subject Rankings by the Ministry of Education of China shows that 14 disciplines of HUST were rated “A level”. Among them, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, biomedical engineering and public health and preventive medicine are rated A+ (top 2%).

According to the latest report on Essential Science Indicators, published by Thomson Reuters in 2020, 16 of HUST’s research areas are now ranked among the top 1% among peers in the world, with Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Clinical Medicine and Chemistry among the top 1‰ globally.

The Subject Rankings of US News and World Report 2020 reports that, at HUST:

· Engineering  ranks 13th in the world

· Mechanical Engineering ranks 6th in the world

· Computer Science ranks 8th in the world

· Electrical and Electronics Engineering ranks 9th in the world

· Civil Engineering ranks 26th in the world

· Materials Science ranks 29th in the world
